Public Works

The Borough of Kenhorst is committed to the needs of our residents and businesses. Public Works plays a big part in that commitment.

LEAF COLLECTION

Curbside leaf collection begins on November 4th and ends on December 6th, weather permitting. Borough Employees start at one side of the Borough and work their way to the other side of the Borough. Ideally, leaves will be picked up on each Borough Street at least once a week.

Kenhorst Borough has a two-man public works crew who operate the Borough's leaf collection vehicle. We ask that residents be patient in waiting for their leaves to be picked up. As such, the Borough is unable to honor individual requests for leaf collection on their street.

SNOW REMOVAL

When the FORECAST is for 3 or more inches of snow, a Snow Emergency will be in effect. This will allow all residents sufficient time prior to a significant snowfall to move vehicles from the Snow Emergency Routes (New Holland Road and S. Kenhorst Boulevard and Upland, High Boulevard and Columbia Avenue) and for vehicles parked on all other non-emergency routes to move to the odd side of the street or into their driveways.

Once the Snow Stops: Intersections will be cleared, and storm drains opened provided there is room to get equipment in safely. Please be patient. The public works crew will work to clear all roads, but the priority is the snow emergency routes. Curb to curb plowing will be done time and weather permitting.

On Snow Emergency Routes Only: Vehicles still parked on a Snow Emergency Route will be ticketed and possibly towed.

Property owners are required to remove snow and ice from adjacent sidewalks within 12 hours after a storm and are asked to keep fire hydrants clear. Residents who cast snow onto the street will be cited, "No Exceptions".

STREET SWEEPING

Street Sweeping will be conducted once per year. Ideally, sweeping will occur in May, weather permitting. Residents are advised to look for the "Temporary NO PARKING by order of Police" signs posted on the streets/blocks slated for sweeping. All vehicles must be moved from posted streets/blocks – vehicles that are not moved will be ticketed and possibly towed. Thank you for your cooperation!
