Permits & Codes

The Borough of Kenhorst requires permits for certain kinds of work to your property, residential or commercial. Examples include, but are not limited to, roofs, decks, patios, sheds, fences, driveways and sidewalks. Permits also are required for yard sales, dumpsters, fire pits/chimineas, pools over 24 inches deep and solicitation in the Borough. When in doubt, please view the downloadable building permits at the end of this section or contact the Borough Office for permit requirements.

PERMIT APPLICATION & FEES

All residential and commercial permit applications must be returned to the Borough office along with the non-refundable application fee, cash or checks only; checks payable to "Borough of Kenhorst.” Any permit fee balance is due when the permit is picked up.

Non-refundable Administrative Fee:

$ 75.00 (residential)
$ 150.00 (non-residential)

STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PERMITS

If the improvement you wish to make to your property might create an impervious surface (a surface or structure that is solid and will not allow water to pass through it), please also contact the Borough Engineer for verification of compliance with the Borough Storm Water Management Ordinance.

The following permits are required with the Borough of Kenhorst. If you have questions or need additional information, please contact the Borough offices.

RENTAL PROPERTY PERMITS

Kenhorst Borough Ordinance #538 requires all property owners to register their property as a rental if they do not use it as their primary residence and have it rented out to tenants. The fee is $100/year for each unit. Please contact the Borough as soon as possible when there is a change in tenants.
