Borough of Kenhorst recycling and trash collection information.
TRASH COLLECTION
Trash is collected every week on WEDNESDAY unless Wednesday is a holiday. If Wednesday is a holiday, trash will be collected the following day on Thursday. The number of items (bags or cans) is FOUR (4) per property.
RECYCLING COLLECTION
For 2025 recycling is collected EVERY WEDNESDAY (the entire borough is collected on the same day). If recycling falls on a holiday, recycling will be picked up that week on Thursday.
COMMERCIAL RECYCLING
The Borough of Kenhorst Ordinance #543 requires a mandatory recycling program throughout the borough. It shall be the duty of every property owner in the borough wherein recyclables are generated and/or accumulated to provide for the collection, removal and disposal of such recyclables in accordance with the provisions of PA State Act 101.
Those properties in the borough not receiving municipal recycling collection service including, but not limited to, large apartment and condominium type properties, large commercial and industrial properties and institutional properties shall establish and maintain their own private recycling programs in accordance with the provisions of this Part and Act 101. All such properties shall submit periodic reports regarding their recycling programs and provide information as required by the borough.
Acceptable Recycling Materials include:
- Aluminum cans
- Steel cans
- Bimetallic cans
- Glass containers (clear, green or brown)
- Plastic containers
- PET plastics
- HDPE plastics
- High-grade office paper
- Newspapers
- Corrugated paper
Please note private recycling programs must include, as a minimum, aluminum cans, corrugated paper and high-grade office paper.
